The Info LED on the FRITZ!Box flashes red or several LEDs on the FRITZ!Box flash continuously. The error occurred after updating FRITZ!OS manually or automatically. You may not be able to open the FRITZ!Box user interface any more and the browser only displays a white page with the error message "firmwarecfg: ERROR Error: opening page ../html/index.html".

1 Preparations

The cache of the web browser must be cleared before you perform the following steps:

  1. Press "CTRL + Shift + Del" on the keyboard at the same time, or press "CMD + Alt + E" for Safari.
  2. In the new window, click "Clear" or press Enter.

2 Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Unplug the FRITZ!Box for 5 minutes.

    Note:The FRITZ!Box settings are retained when you unplug it. After you plug the FRITZ!Box in again, it takes about 2 minutes for it to restart. During this time, you cannot access the FRITZ!Box.

3 Checking whether the update was successful

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface. If the user interface is not displayed, use the recovery program to reset the FRITZ!Box. Using the recovery program installs the update.
  2. Click "System" and then "Update".
  3. Click the "Find New FRITZ!OS" button.
  4. The update was successful if no new version is found.
    • If a newer version is found, repeat the online update. If the online update fails, continue with the next section and update manually.

4 Updating manually

Downloading the FRITZ!OS file

  1. Call up download.avm.de/fritzbox/ in your web browser.
  2. Switch to the folder "fritzbox-7360-v1" or "fritzbox-7360-v2", then to the subfolder "other", and then to the folder "fritz.os".

    Important:You can find the version number in the user interface of the FRITZ!Box under "System > Update" on the "FRITZ!OS File" tab. If the tab is not displayed, enable the Advanced View first. The number for v1 begins with 111., and the number for v2 begins with 124.

  3. Download the file with the extension ".image" to the computer.

Repeating the update process

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Update" or "Firmware Update" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "FRITZ!OS File" or "Firmware File" tab. If the tab is not displayed, enable the Advanced View first.
  4. Click "Save Settings".

    Note:Save your FRITZ!Box settings again under "System > Backup" right after successfully completing the installation. Then you can always restore a working configuration.

  5. Click the "Browse..." or "Choose File" button.
  6. Select the FRITZ!OS file you downloaded (image file).
  7. Click the "Start Update" button.
