Setting up FRITZ!Box for use with a Sky WiFi line

To use the FRITZ!Box with Sky WiFi, simply connect the FRITZ!Box to the internet connection and configure the internet connection and telephony in the FRITZ!Box. The complete FRITZ!Box range of functions for internet, telephony, and multimedia is then available to all of the devices in your home network without restriction.

Important:Sky is currently converting internet connections to the MAP-T protocol, which is not supported by FRITZ!Box. On an internet connection with MAP-T, connect the FRITZ!Box with the router from Sky and proceed as described in the guide Setting up the FRITZ!Box for use with another router.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Connecting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Connect the "WAN" port on the FRITZ!Box with the LAN port of the DSL or fiber optic modem (ONT, Optical Network Termination). For detailed information, refer to the quick guide included with the FRITZ!Box and the manual.

2 Configuring the internet connection in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Enter the FRITZ!Box password on the bottom of the device and click "Log In".
  3. Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
  4. Select "DSL or fiber optic modem" from the drop-down list "Internet connection via".
  5. Select "Other internet service provider".
  6. Enable the option "No" in the section "Account Information".
  7. Click "Change connection settings".
  8. Enable the option "Use VLAN for internet access".
  9. Enter 101 in the field "VLAN ID".
  10. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  11. Now the FRITZ!Box checks whether the internet connection can be established. Configuration is completed as soon as the message "The internet connection check was successful" is displayed.

    Important:If the internet connection check fails, your internet access may not have been activated yet. In this case, contact Sky.

3 Setting up telephony in the FRITZ!Box

Requesting login information for telephony

  1. Contact Sky's customer service to have them give you the login information for telephony (for example the username and password).

Configuring telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Numbers" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  4. Select "Other provider" from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter your telephone number without +39 (for example 061234567) by "Telephone number for registration" and "Internal telephone number in the FRITZ!Box".
  6. Enter the login information you received from Sky by "Username" and "Password".
  7. Enter in the field "Registrar".
  8. Enter in the "Proxy server" field.
  9. Click "Additional Settings" to display all of the settings.
  10. Select "RTP or in-band" for "DTMF transmission".
  11. Select the setting "IPv4 and IPv6, IPv6 preferred" by "Contact Internet telephony provider via".
  12. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Assigning telephone numbers

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective telephony device.

    Important:If the telephony device was not configured yet, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the wizard's instructions.

  4. From the drop-down list "Outgoing Calls", select the number to be used by the telephony device for making outgoing calls. If you do not select a telephone number, the number entered under "Telephony > Telephone Numbers > Line Settings" is used for making calls.
  5. Select the telephone numbers to which the telephony device should react when you receive calls. You can select up to ten numbers (including the number for outgoing calls).
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
