Watching TV with FRITZ!App TV

With FRITZ!App TV, smartphones and tablets in the home network can play the IP stream from the FRITZ!Repeater DVB-C or FRITZ!Box Cable models. FRITZ!App TV automatically loads the channel list and offers additional convenience features. These include displaying station logos, an electronic program guide (EPG), and creating your own favorites list.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • iOS 15 or later or Android 9 or later is installed on the smartphone or tablet.

1 Configuring the repeater for television reception

Configure the FRITZ!Repeater or FRITZ!Box for television reception first:

Setting up the FRITZ!Repeater

Important:The FRITZ!Repeater must be connected to the cable wall outlet for the channel search to work.

  1. Click "DVB-C" in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  2. Click "Channel Search" in the "DVB-C" menu.
  3. Click the "Start Channel Search" button.

Configuring the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "DVB-C" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Channel Search" in the "DVB-C" menu.
  3. Click the "Start Channel Search" button.

2 Installing FRITZ!App TV

  1. Download FRITZ!App TV from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and install the app on your smartphone or tablet.

3 Using FRITZ!App TV

  1. Tap a station name or its logo to play it.
  2. To change the station, swipe left or right on the screen, or tap the button on the left-hand or right-hand corner of the screen.
  3. To end playback and return to the channel list, tap the playback window and then tap the "To Overview" button in iOS or "Back" in Android.
  4. Tap the screen twice to enlarge or reduce the size of the TV picture.
  5. To display program information, tap the playback window first and then tap the arrow icon next to the name of the program at the bottom of the screen.
