Setting up a wireless connection to a wireless router
You can connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick with any conventional wireless router. You only have to set up the wireless connection between them once. The FRITZ!WLAN Stick then establishes the connection automatically.
If you are using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port as your wireless router, you can use Stick & Surf to securely and automatically transmit the security settings for the wireless connection to the FRITZ!WLAN Stick.
1 Setting up the wireless connection automatically
The following steps are only necessary if you are using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port as the wireless router:
Connecting the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to the FRITZ!Box
- Connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to a USB port on the FRITZ!Box.
As long as the "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box flashes, the wireless network security settings are still being transmitted to the FRITZ!WLAN Stick. Once the transmission is completed, the "Info" LED remains lit and you can connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to your computer.
Connecting the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to the computer
- Connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to a USB port on your computer.
Now the wireless connection to the FRITZ!Box is automatically established.
2 Setting up the wireless connection manually
- Double-click the FRITZ!WLAN symbol
in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (Systray).
- Click "Find" in the "FRITZ!WLAN" window.
- In the window "Find and Select WLAN Device", double-click the entry that displays the name of the wireless router's network in the column "Name (SSID)".
- Select the wireless encryption used by the wireless router from the drop-down list "Security".
- Enter the wireless router's network key in the "key" field.
- Click "OK" to save the settings.
Now the wireless connection is established.
