FRITZ!WLAN Repeater N/G Service

Setting up a wireless connection to a wireless router

You can connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick with any conventional wireless router. You only have to set up the wireless connection between them once. The FRITZ!WLAN Stick then establishes the connection automatically.

You can use Stick & Surf to automatically set up the wireless connection by briefly connecting the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to a USB port on the FRITZ!Box. If you are using a wireless router from another manufacturer or your FRITZ!Box does not have a USB port, set up the wireless connection manually instead.

1 Setting up the wireless connection automatically

If you are using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port, you can use Stick & Surf to easily connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to the FRITZ!Box:

  1. Insert the FRITZ!WLAN Stick into a USB port on the FRITZ!Box. Now the FRITZ!Box transmits the wireless security settings to the FRITZ!WLAN Stick using Stick & Surf. The "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box flashes while they are being transmitted.
  2. The process is complete as soon as the "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box remains lit.
  3. Insert the FRITZ!WLAN Stick into a USB port on your computer. Now the FRITZ!WLAN Stick establishes the wireless connection.

2 Setting up the wireless connection manually

  1. Double-click the FRITZ!WLAN symbol in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (Systray).
  2. Click "Find" in the "FRITZ!WLAN" window.
  3. In the window "Find and Select WLAN Device", double-click the entry that displays the name of the wireless router's wireless network in the column "Name (SSID)".
  4. From the drop-down list "Security", select the wireless encryption used by the wireless router.
  5. Enter the wireless router's network key in the "key" field.
  6. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Now the wireless connection is established.
