Setting up the the FRITZ!WLAN Stick's wireless connection

You can connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick with any conventional wireless router:

  • If you are using a FRITZ!Box with a USB port, use Stick & Surf to automatically set up the wireless connection by briefly connecting the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to the USB port on the FRITZ!Box.
  • If you are using a wireless router from another manufacturer or a FRITZ!Box without a USB port, set up the wireless connection manually.

1 Setting up the wireless connection automatically

  1. Insert the FRITZ!WLAN Stick into a USB port on the FRITZ!Box. Now the FRITZ!Box transmits the wireless security settings to the FRITZ!WLAN Stick using Stick & Surf. The "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box flashes while they are being transmitted.
  2. The process is complete as soon as the "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box remains lit.
  3. Insert the FRITZ!WLAN Stick into a USB port on your computer. Now the FRITZ!WLAN Stick establishes the wireless connection.

2 Setting up the wireless connection manually

How to set up the wireless connection depends on the Windows version being used:

Windows 10

  1. Click (Start) and then (Settings) in the Windows task bar.
  2. Click "Network and Internet" and then "Wi-Fi" in the "Settings" menu.
  3. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the wireless router's wireless network (SSID) and then "Connect".
  4. Enter the wireless router's network key in the field "Enter the network security key" and click "Next". Now the FRITZ!WLAN Stick establishes the wireless connection.

Windows 8

  1. Press the keyboard shortcut Windows key + C.
    • The Windows sidebar now opens.
  2. Click "Settings" and then the wireless symbol in the Windows sidebar.
  3. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the wireless router's wireless network (SSID) and then "Connect".
  4. Enter the wireless router's network key in the field "Enter the network security key" and click "Next".
  5. Select the answer "Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices". Now the FRITZ!WLAN Stick establishes the wireless connection. Then the wireless LAN symbol displays the field strength.

Windows 7

  1. Click the wireless symbol in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (Systray).
  2. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the wireless router's wireless network (SSID) and then "Connect".
  3. Enter the wireless router's network key in the "Security key" field and click "OK". Now the FRITZ!WLAN Stick establishes the wireless connection. The wireless LAN symbol then displays the field strength.
