FRITZ!WLAN Repeater N/G Service - Knowledge Base
Using the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater in a home network without a DHCP server
A router (for example FRITZ!Box) with automatic IP address assignment (DHCP) is required for the convenient use of your repeater and also necessary to make use of all of its functions. Although experienced users can use the repeater without a DHCP server, this results in the following operational restrictions:
- The user interface cannot be opened.
- FRITZ!OS updates cannot be installed.
- None of the convenience functions (for example schedule, push service) are available.
- FRITZ!Box Audio and USB Remote Connection cannot be used for audio output, nor can you listen to any of the Internet radio stations set up in the user interface.
As long as their static IP settings allow it, computers, smartphones, or other network devices connected to the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater can normally access the router's home network and Internet connection, even if there is no DHCP server.
Important:Since we cannot guarantee trouble-free operation when used in a home network without a DHCP server, we do not offer technical support if this is the case.
