FRITZ!Repeater N/G Service

Changing the FRITZ!Repeater's Wi-Fi settings

The FRITZ!Repeater automatically adopts the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and Wi-Fi network key of the FRITZ!Box (or another router) during setup in order to allow devices in the home network to quickly switch Wi-Fi networks (Wi-Fi roaming).

If necessary, you can also configure the FRITZ!Repeater's Wi-Fi settings according to your individual needs.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest firmware for the FRITZ!Repeater.

1 Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID)

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  2. Click "Radio Settings" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Disable the option "Take on the same radio network name as the wireless access point (FRITZ!Box)".
  4. Enter a unique name without special characters for the "Name of the wireless radio network (SSID)".
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  6. Reconfigure the Wi-Fi connection to the FRITZ!Repeater.

2 Change the Wi-Fi network key

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  2. Click "Security" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Click on the "Encryption" tab.
  4. Enter a password in the "Network key" field. Use numerals, letters, and other characters, and combine capitals and lower-case letters.
  5. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Now only wireless devices listed under "Known WLAN Devices" can connect to the FRITZ!Repeater's Wi-Fi network. If you want to connect a new wireless device with the FRITZ!Repeater, briefly disable the MAC address filter and do not re-enable it until the new wireless device has been connected with the FRITZ!Repeater. 4. Enable the option "Switch off Wi-Fi network (WLAN)".
  5. If the night service is enabled, but the Wi-Fi network should remain switched on until all connections between wireless devices and repeaters have been cleared, enable the option "The Wi-Fi network cannot be switched off until no more WLAN equipment is active".
  6. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
