FRITZ!Repeater DVB-C Service

Connecting a wireless device directly with the FRITZ!Repeater

If you set up your FRITZ!Repeater as described in our guide Setting up FRITZ!Repeater in the FRITZ!Box home network, the FRITZ!Repeater adopts the Wi-Fi network name and network key of the FRITZ!Box during setup. This allows your wireless devices to automatically connect to the best Wi-Fi network.

If you customized the FRITZ!Repeater with individual Wi-Fi settings, connect your wireless devices directly to the FRITZ!Repeater.

  • If your wireless device supports setting up connections automatically with WPS, set up the connection by pushing a button.
  • If your wireless device does not support WPS, set up the connection manually.

1 Setting up the Wi-Fi connection by pushing a button

You can easily connect Windows computers, mobile devices with Android 8 and earlier, and also other wireless devices that support WPS with the FRITZ!Repeater adapter at the touch of a button. Here we show you how to set it up using Windows 10 as an example:

  1. Click (Start) and then (Settings) in the Windows task bar.
  2. Click "Network and Internet" and then "Wi-Fi" in the "Settings" menu.
  3. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the FRITZ!Repeater's Wi-Fi network (SSID) and then "Connect".
  4. As soon as Windows asks you to enter the network security key, briefly push the "WPS" button on the FRITZ!Repeater (for about 1 second) and let go of it again. When you release the button, the "WLAN" LED starts to flash.

Important:If the message "You can also connect by pushing..." is not displayed, the computer does not support WPS. In this case, set up the Wi-Fi connection manually.

  5. Click "Yes" when you are asked "Do you want to allow your PC to be discoverable by other PCs and devices on this network?".
