FRITZ!Repeater 310 Service - Knowledge Base
FRITZ!Repeater cannot establish a wireless connection to a router from another manufacturer
The FRITZ!Repeater cannot establish a wireless connection (WiFi) to a wireless router from another manufacturer. The signal strength LEDs on the FRITZ!Repeater flash for a while and then turn off.
To resolve the problem, simply proceed as described below.
1 Briefly disabling the MAC address filter
The router's MAC address filter must be disabled when registering devices with the wireless router:
- Disable the wireless router's MAC address filter, for example in the wireless or security settings in the router's user interface.
Note:You can reenable the MAC address filter once you have successfully set up the wireless connection to the wireless router.
2 Enable WPA encryption
In the factory settings, the FRITZ!Repeater supports the encryption methods WPA2 and WPA at the same time. Make sure that your wireless router is set for one of the following encryption methods:
- Enable WPA2 encryption (CCMP) in the wireless router. If the router does not support WPA2, enable WPA encryption (TKIP) in the router.
Note:Refer to the manufacturer of the wireless router for information on how to adjust the wireless encryption, for example consult the manual.
3 Enabling the WPS function
To connect the FRITZ!Repeater with the wireless router by pushing a button (WPS - Push Button Configuration), WPS must be enabled in the router:
- Enable the WPS push button method (WPS-PBC) in the user interface of the wireless router. Do not push a button on the router to enable WPS because you cannot reenable the WPS function by pushing a button if it has been permanently disabled.
Note:Refer to the manufacturer of the wireless router for information on how to enable WPS, for example consult the manual.
