FRITZ!Repeater 1750E Service

Using WPS to set up a wireless connection to the FRITZ!Repeater

To connect computers, network printers, and other wireless devices that support the WPS method (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), with the FRITZ!Repeater's wireless network, all you have to do is push a button. During this procedure, the FRITZ!Repeaters's encryption settings are securely transmitted to the wireless device, which then stores them permanently.

The FRITZ!Repeater supports WPS according to the PBC method (Push Button Configuration).

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Repeater.

1 Enabling WPS in the FRITZ!Repeater

WPS is enabled in the factory settings. If you changed the FRITZ!Repeater's wireless settings, configure the following settings:

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of the FRITZ!Repeater.
  2. Click "Security" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Click on the "WPS Quick Connection" tab.
  4. Enable WPS.
  5. Select "Push-Button method (WPS-PBC, Push Button Configuration)" and click "Start WPS".

2 Establishing a wireless connection to the FRITZ!Repeater

Windows 10

  1. Click "Start" and then "Settings" in the Windows task bar.
  2. Click "Network and Internet" and then "Wi-Fi" in the "Settings" menu.
  3. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the FRITZ!Repeater's wireless network (SSID) and then "Connect".
    • The field "Enter the network security key" is displayed:

    Important:If the message "You can also connect by pushing..." is not displayed, then the computer does not support WPS. In this case, enter the network key of the FRITZ!Repeater.

  4. Briefly push the "WPS" button on the FRITZ!Repeater (for about 1 second) and let go of it again. The "WLAN" LED starts to flash after you release the button.
  5. Click "Yes" when you are asked "Do you want to allow your PC to be discoverable by other PCs and devices on this network?".

Now the wireless connection is established.

Windows 8

  1. Press the keyboard shortcut Windows key + C.
    • The Windows sidebar now opens.
  2. Click "Settings" and then the wireless symbol in the Windows sidebar.
  3. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the FRITZ!Repeater's wireless network (SSID) and then "Connect".
    • The field "Enter the network security key" is displayed:

    Important:If the message "You can also connect by pushing..." is not displayed, then the computer does not support WPS. In this case, enter the network key of the FRITZ!Repeater.

  4. Briefly push the "WPS" button on the FRITZ!Repeater (for about 1 second) and let go of it again. The "WLAN" LED starts to flash after you release the button.
  5. Select the answer "Yes, turn on sharing and connect to devices".

Now the wireless connection is established and the field strength is displayed by the wireless symbol .

Windows 7

  1. Click the wireless symbol in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (Systray).
  2. In the list of available connections, click the one that displays the name of the FRITZ!Repeater's wireless network (SSID) and then "Connect".
    • The "Connect to a network" window now appears:

    • Important:If the message "You can also connect by pushing..." is not displayed, then the computer does not support WPS. In this case, enter the network key of the FRITZ!Repeater.

  3. Briefly push the "WPS" button on the FRITZ!Repeater (for about 1 second) and let go of it again. The "WLAN" LED starts to flash after you release the button.
    • Important:Sometimes the message "Windows was unable to connect to this network" is incorrectly displayed, although the wireless connection was established. Click "Cancel" to close the message window.

Now the wireless connection is established and the field strength is displayed by the wireless symbol .

Android

  1. Tap the "Settings" symbol on the home screen of the Android device.
  2. Tap "Wi-Fi" in the "Settings" menu.
  3. Tap the button and then "More settings".
  4. Tap "WPS push button".
    • The window "WPS setup" is displayed:

  5. Briefly push the "WPS" button on the FRITZ!Repeater (for about 1 second) and let go of it again. The "WLAN" LED starts to flash after you release the button.
  6. Tap "OK" on your Android device.

Now the wireless connection is established and the field strength is displayed by the wireless symbol .

Note:You can establish wireless connections quickly and easily using WPS with FRITZ!App WLAN.

Other wireless devices (such as network printers, wireless music systems)

  1. Briefly push the "WPS" button on the FRITZ!Repeater (for about 1 second) and let go of it again. The "WLAN" LED starts to flash after you release the button.
  2. Use your wireless device to search for wireless networks in the vicinity.

    Note:You can find instructions on establishing wireless connections in the manual, or consult the manufacturer of the wireless device directly.

  3. Select the name of the FRITZ!Repeater's wireless network (SSID) and start WPS according to the PBC (Push Button Configuration) method.

Now the wireless connection is configured and then established.
