Using FRITZ!Powerline in a home network without a DHCP server

By default, FRITZ!Powerline obtains its IP settings from the router (for example FRITZ!Box) via DHCP. If you would like to use FRITZ!Powerline in a home network without a DHCP server, you must manually configure its IP settings.

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for FRITZ!Powerline.

1 Preparing a network device

You must temporarily configure special IP settings for the network device (for example a computer, smartphone, tablet) that will be used to configure FRITZ!Powerline for use in a home network without a DHCP server:

Configuring a network device as a DHCP client

The following step is only necessary if you would like to configure FRITZ!Powerline with static IP settings when it is in LAN bridge or powerline bridge mode:

  • Configure the network device to automatically obtain IP settings (DHCP client).

Configuring the network device for FRITZ!Powerline's IP network
