Cannot switch wireless LAN on or off by pushing a button

Since updating FRITZ!OS, you can no longer push a button on the FRITZ!Powerline adapter to manually switch the wireless network (WiFi) on or off. When you push the corresponding button, the wireless function is not enabled or disabled.

Cause

  • The option to switch them on or off by pushing a button was removed from FRITZ!OS 6.30. However, you can set up a schedule to switch the wireless network on or off automatically, or you can switch it manually with the user interface.

1 Switching the wireless function automatically

The schedule function allows you to automatically switch wireless LAN on and off at certain times:

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of FRITZ!Powerline.
  2. Click "Schedule" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Use schedule for wireless radio network" and define when the FRITZ!Powerline adapter's wireless network should be switched off.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

2 Switching the wireless function manually

You can use the user interface to switch wireless LAN on or off manually:

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the user interface of FRITZ!Powerline.
  2. Click "Radio Network" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable or disable the option "Wireless radio network enabled".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

The FRITZ!Powerline adapter's wireless network is now switched off. You can push a button to switch the wireless network back on whenever you want.
