Reading and sending emails

You can configure up to 10 email accounts in the FRITZ!Box. FRITZ!Fon then notifies you when you receive new emails; it can display up to 16 emails for each email account and up to a total of 128 emails for all accounts. If you are using several telephones, you can configure a different account for each FRITZ!Fon.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • The FRITZ!Fon must be registered with a FRITZ!Box.
  • You must use an email account with a POP3 email server.
  • POP3 download must be enabled with your email provider.

    Note:You can enable download in your email account settings. Refer to your email provider for information on how to set it up.

1 Setting up email accounts

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Web Services" or "Internet Services" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Click the "New email Account" button.
  4. Enter your email address and password.

    Note:In most cases, the FRITZ!Box automatically fills in the following information. With smaller local providers, you have to enter it yourself. Refer to your email provider for the required information.

  5. Enter your user name and the name of your email provider's POP3 server.
  6. If the server supports SSL, enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)".
  7. Click on the "Additional Settings" tab.
  8. Define how often the FRITZ!Box should retrieve emails from the incoming mail server. The retrieval interval may be between 5 minutes and 24 hours.
  9. If you would like to be notified when you receive new emails, enable the option "Automatically signal new email on the FRITZ!Fon".

    Note:When new emails arrive, the telephone will beep, the LED will flash red, and the envelope icon is shown in the display.

  10. If you also want to send email with your FRITZ!Fon, enable the option "Allow email to be sent from FRITZ!Fon cordless telephones".
  11. Enter the name of your email provider's SMTP server.
  12. If the server cannot be reached over port 25, enter the port used by the server to communicate in the "Port" field, for example 587.
  13. If the server supports SSL, enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)".
  14. Enter a name without special characters in the "Name of sender" field.
  15. If you would like to be able to delete emails with the telephone, enable the option "Deletion of read email on FRITZ!Fon enabled" and specify whether emails can only be deleted from the telephone's display or whether they can also be deleted from your email inbox with your provider.
  16. If a PIN should be required to access your emails on the telephone, enable the option "Protect email access with a PIN" and define a PIN.
  17. If several FRITZ!Fons are registered with the FRITZ!Box, define whether the emails from this account should be displayed on all or only on certain telephones.
  18. Click "OK" to save the settings.

2 Reading email

  1. Press the "Menu" key on the telephone.
  2. Scroll to "Internet services" and press "OK".
  3. "Email" > "OK"

3 Sending emails

  1. Press the "Menu" key on the telephone.
  2. Scroll to "Internet services" and press "OK".
  3. "Email" > "OK" > "Options" > "New email" > "OK"
  4. Enter a subject line and the text of the email.
  5. Press "Options".
  6. If you saved the recipient's email address in the telephone book, select "Telephone book".
    • If you would like to enter the email address manually, select "Send to mailing list" and enter the recipient's address.
  7. "Options" > "Send" > "OK"

    Note:Emails sent with your FRITZ!Fon will not be displayed in the outbox of your email account.

4 Deleting an email account

If you no longer want to use a particular email account, you can completely delete it from the FRITZ!Box:

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Web Services" or "Internet Services" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Click the button (Delete) for the respective email account.
  4. Click the "OK" button.

Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Backup" or "Reset" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click on the "Restart" tab (if available).
  4. Click the "Restart" button.

The emails will no longer be displayed on the telephone.
