FRITZ!DECT Repeater 100 Service

Registering FRITZ!DECT Repeater

You can use a FRITZ!DECT Repeater to increase the DECT range of your DECT base station (for example a FRITZ!Box) so you can then even make calls with your cordless telephones from your garden or on different floors of your house. If you leave the coverage area of one device while making a call, the telephone will automatically connect to the other device without interrupting the call.

Here we show you how to register the FRITZ!DECT repeater with a FRITZ!Box at the touch of a button. Instead of a FRITZ!Box, you can also use a DECT base station from another manufacturer.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • A maximum of six repeaters (FRITZ!DECT Repeaters and/or FRITZ!Boxes in DECT repeater mode) can be registered with the FRITZ!Box.
  • DECT repeaters from other manufacturers and FRITZ!DECT Repeaters cannot be registered at the same time.
  • All repeaters must be registered with the base station (star topology). It is not possible to register a repeater with another repeater (cascading).
  • The "DECT Eco" function can no longer be used.

1 Configuring the FRITZ!Box

In the factory settings, the FRITZ!Box is configured for use as an access point. If you changed the FRITZ!Box's DECT settings, configure the following settings:

Note:You can only change the DECT settings if a cordless telephone is registered with the FRITZ!Box.

Enabling encryption

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu or "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Enable the option "Permit only secure DECT connections (recommended)" in the section "Security".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.
  5. If the option was disabled, you must then restart the FRITZ!Box once using the user interface ("System > Backup or Reset > Restart").

Disabling "Reduce DECT field strength"

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu or "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Disable the option "Reduce DECT field strength" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Disabling "DECT Eco"

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu or "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Disable the option "DECT Eco" in the section "Radio Field Strength".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Setting a PIN

For automatic registration to work, you must set the PIN to "0000" in the FRITZ!Box user interface:

  1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Base Station" in the "DECT" menu or "DECT" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Enter "0000" as the PIN in the section "Registration".
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings.

Important:The PIN may not be changed even after you have successfully registered the repeater!

2 Establishing a DECT connection

  1. Plug the repeater into a power outlet near the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Push the "DECT" button on the repeater. Hold down the button for at least 6 seconds until the "DECT" LED starts to flash rapidly. The repeater is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes rapidly.
  3. Within 2 minutes: Push the "DECT" button on the FRITZ!Box. Hold down the button for at least 6 seconds until the "DECT" or "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box starts to flash. The FRITZ!Box is in registration mode as long as the LED flashes.
  4. The "DECT" LED on the repeater remains lit as soon as the DECT connection has been established.

3 Finding the ideal location for the repeater

  1. Select a location for the repeater where a telephone that is registered directly with the FRITZ!Box still has perfect reception. The "DECT" LED on the repeater must remain lit. If the LED flashes, the repeater has no connection to the FRITZ!Box. In addition, at the location you select for the repeater, voice transmission with every telephone must be absolutely interference-free in both directions when the repeater is switched off. Otherwise, the location is not a suitable place to position the repeater.

Now the repeater extends the DECT range of the base station. Register new telephones with the base station. You cannot register telephones with the repeater.

Note:FRITZ!Fons now display a small red 1 over the signal strength bars when they are logged onto the base station and a 2 when they are logged onto the repeater. If you are using several repeaters, the numbers 2 to 7 are used.
