FRITZ!DECT 200 Service

Setting up group switching for a FRITZ!DECT socket

You can combine several FRITZ!DECT sockets, for example FRITZ!DECT 200, or a FRITZ!Powerline adapter's outlet switch, into a group and easily switch them together. Then you can switch a group of several outlet switches automatically according to a schedule or depending on temperature. If necessary, you can also manually switch a group for which a schedule is set up.
In addition, you can also define a switching actuator as a so-called "master. When it is switched, the whole group is switched.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • If you have a group with outlet switches for which you set up temperature-based switching, it is not possible to manually switch the group or an individual device in the group.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Creating a group

  1. Click "Home Network" or "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu or click "Groups and Templates" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click the "New Group" or "Create Group" button.
  4. Enable the corresponding group of devices.
  5. Enter a name for the group and select the devices you want to switch together in the group.
  6. Click "OK" or "Next" to save the settings. The group is then created.

2 Switching a group

Outlet switches that you have grouped together can either be switched automatically, via a "Master", or manually, if necessary:

Switching a group automatically

  1. Click "Home Network" or "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu or click "Groups and Templates" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the "Group switch" of the group you want to configure automatic switching for.
  4. In the section "Automatic switching", select "Switch group automatically" and set up the desired schedule.
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Switching a group via a "Master"

You can define a smart home device as the so-called "master". When it is switched automatically or manually, all devices in the "master's" group are switched as well. The "master" does not have to belong to the group you want to switch:

  1. Click "Home Network" or "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu or click "Groups and Templates" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button that corresponds to the group for which you want to configure switching via a "Master".
  4. In the section "Automatic switching", enable the option "Switch group via a FRITZ! actuator ('master')" or "Switch a group via a Smart Home device" and select the device you want to use as the "Master" in the drop-down list "Smart Home Device".
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Switching a group manually

If you manually switch a group that you also set up an automatic switching schedule for, the manual switching applies until the next automatic switching time occurs:

  1. Click "Home Network" or "Smart Home" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Smart Home" in the "Home Network" menu or click "Operation" in the "Smart Home" menu.
  3. Click on the On/Off switch for the group.

Note:To manually switch the smart home group, you can also use a FRITZ!Fon (Menu "Home Network > Smart Home") and a FRITZ!DECT smart button, or use FRITZ!App Smart Home to switch it in the home network or over the internet.
