Cordless telephone cannot play all ring tones offered by FRITZ!Box
A cordless telephone from another manufacturer is registered with the FRITZ!Box. Although you can select up to eight different ring tones for the telephone in the FRITZ!Box user interface, the telephone cannot play some of these ring tones.
The telephone uses the same ring tone for the settings "Asia", "Andante" and "News".
Only the "Standard" ring tone can be set for the telephone. If you select any other ring tone, you either hear continuous ringing or no ringing at all.

1 Cordless telephone does not comply with the DECT standard
You can configure up to eight different ring tones for cordless telephones in the FRITZ!Box user interface. How many and which ring tones the telephone can actually use depends on the telephone itself. In accordance with the provisions of the DECT standard, the FRITZ!Box does not transmit the selected ring tone to the telephone. Instead, it transmits a certain value. How the telephone interprets this value and which ring tone is then heard is determined by the telephone. Therefore, in some cases you can only select the "Standard" ring tone for a particular telephone in the FRITZ!Box user interface. If you select a different ring tone, you only hear continuous ringing or no ringing at all.
Testing ring tones
With the ring tone test you can check which ring tones your telephone can play:
- Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Cordless Telephones" in the "DECT" menu.
- Click the button (Edit) for the respective telephone.
- Click on the "Ring Tones" tab.
- Select ring tones one after another from the drop-down list and then click the "Test" button to test each ring tone.
