FRITZ!Box 7583 Service

Cannot access the internet over guest access

Although devices can register with the FRITZ!Box's guest access, they cannot access the internet over the guest access. In some cases, new devices do not obtain IP addresses from the FRITZ!Box or internet access is only not possible when the captive portal is enabled.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem is solved.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Install the latest FRITZ!OS

  1. Install the latest FRITZ!OS on the FRITZ!Box.

2 Opening an HTTP page in the web browser

If the option "Permit login with guest access/hotspot only after consent to terms of use" is enabled, users must consent to the terms of use before they are allowed to access the internet. However, the captive portal with terms of use is only displayed if you call up an https page:

  1. Call up an HTTP page, for example our test page Now the FRITZ!Box displays a captive portal for guest access.
  2. Agree to the terms of use of the guest access.
