Adding background images and contact pictures using FRITZ!Fon

The FRITZ!Box allows you to add your own images to telephone book entries that you use often. When those parties call, the corresponding pictures are then shown on the display of your FRITZ!Fon. You can also configure your own background image for each telephone that is then displayed in standby mode. You simply use the FRITZ!Box user interface to upload the images and transmit them to your telephones.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • Only FRITZ!Fons with color displays allow you to add background images and contact pictures.
  • You can only add contact pictures to telephone books saved directly in the FRITZ!Box. In the case of Google contacts, the pictures displayed are the ones you assigned to your Google contacts. This function cannot be used with other online telephone books.
  • No DECT repeaters from other manufacturers are registered with the FRITZ!Box.
  • A USB storage device is connected to the FRITZ!Box.
  • The USB Remote Connection is not enabled for USB storage media in the FRITZ!Box user interface (under "Home Network > USB Devices > USB Remote Connection").
  • The images you would like to use are in JPEG format.

Note:We suggest using images with a resolution of at least 240x320 pixels. An aspect ratio of 1:1 is ideal. When saving an image as a JPEG file in image editing software, we recommend selecting "baseline" encoding (usually preselected).

  • You can add up to 150 contact pictures.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephone Book" in the "Telephony" menu.

  5. Click on the "Add Photo" tab and then click the "Add Photo" button.
  6. Click the "Choose File" button and select the desired image.
  7. Click "Apply" and "OK" to save the settings.

3 Adding a background image

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

Now the images are displayed on the display of your telephone. However, the lower part of the images appears lighter than the upper part. This way you can always read the text display regardless of the image you selected.
