Incorrect storage capacity shown for USB storage device
A network device (for example a Windows computer) shows a higher storage capacity for a USB storage device configured as a network drive than is actually available on the USB storage device.
1 Total storage capacity of storage devices connected to the FRITZ!Box is shown
The FRITZ!Box makes all storage (for example USB storage devices and online storage) available in the home network. They are displayed in the shared folder \\fritz.box\FRITZ.NAS and can be accessed using the SMB protocol (Server Message Block). If a subdirectory of this network folder is configured as a network drive, the computer's SMB client can only determine the storage capacity of the entire network folder.
Therefore, the computer shows the total storage capacity of all storage devices connected to the FRITZ!Box for all subdirectories configured as network drives (for example individual USB storage devices). This is not an error on the part of the FRITZ!Box.
