FRITZ!Box 7430 Service

FRITZ!Box user interface cannot be opened

The FRITZ!Box user interface does not open after you enter fritz.box in your web browser (for example Chrome, Firefox) although the computer is connected to the FRITZ!Box by means of a network cable or wireless LAN (WiFi).

Important:As a rule, you cannot open the user interface with network devices connected to the FRITZ!Box via guest access.
If the FRITZ!Box uses an existing Internet connection in the network (operating mode "IP client" or "wireless repeater"), you can only open the user interface by entering the IP address manually assigned to the FRITZ!Box instead of fritz.box. You can open the user interface by entering the FRITZ!Box's "emergency IP address" if you have forgotten the IP address.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 Opening the user interface with the full address

Some web browsers start a web search (for example Google Chrome using Google) if you enter an unknown or incomplete address. To avoid this, you must enter the complete address:

2 Restarting the FRITZ!Box

  1. Unplug your FRITZ!Box by removing the power cable from the electrical outlet.
  2. Plug it in again after 5 seconds.

Note:The FRITZ!Box settings remain intact. The restart will take about 2 minutes. During this time, you cannot access the FRITZ!Box.

3 Reinstalling security software from Kaspersky

Security software from Kaspersky, for example Internet Security 2017, can prevent the user interface from being opened. If you have installed such security software, uninstalling and reinstalling it usually makes it possible to open the user interface again:

  • Uninstall the security software from Kaspersky and then reinstall it. Refer to Kaspersky for further information.
