Network devices are not visible over VPN connection

Computers, NAS systems, and other devices in a remote FRITZ!Box network are not visible (for example in the Windows Explorer under "Network") although an VPN connection is established.

Devices cannot be automatically displayed

Operating systems such as Windows or macOS cannot automatically detect and display computers and other devices in remote networks. The mechanisms that operating systems use to automatically detect devices and display their names only work within local networks (LAN), and therefore not in a VPN.

Note:If you want to access shared files, you can contact the devices in the remote FRITZ!Box network through their IP addresses.
