FRITZ!Box 7390 Service

Setting up a wireless connection to the FRITZ!Box

You can connect any wireless device such as a notebook, smartphone or wireless music system to the FRITZ!Box's wireless network (WiFi), and thus enable it to access the Internet and other devices in your home network. To do so, you simply have to configure the wireless connection on each wireless device once.

There are two ways to configure the wireless connection to the FRITZ!Box:

  • With the WPS method (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) you can configure the wireless connection safely and automatically at the touch of a button.
  • You can manually configure the wireless connection by entering the FRITZ!Box's unique network key in the wireless device.

Important:Some of the settings described here are only displayed if the advanced view is enabled in the user interface.

1 Preparations

  • Check whether the wireless device supports configuring wireless connections at the touch of a button (WPS PBC - Push Button Configuration).

Note:Numerous current Windows computers as well as many media players and wireless music systems support WPS. You can find information on whether your device supports WPS in its manual, or consult the manufacturer directly.

2 Determining the FRITZ!Box's wireless settings

Determining the wireless settings in the factory settings

If your FRITZ!Box's wireless settings correspond to the factory settings, you can find them on the sticker on the underside of the device:

  • The name of the wireless network (SSID) corresponds to the model name of your FRITZ!Box (for example FRITZ!Box 7490).
  • The network key corresponds to the numerical code next to the key symbol.
