Outgoing internet calls take a long time to establish
When making internet calls, the complete number must be transmitted to the provider as a block (en bloc dialing). This means that the FRITZ!Box know the entire number. To make sure that you have finished entering the complete number, the FRITZ!Box therefore waits several seconds after the last digit has been entered before it transmits the number to your provider. On the other hand, when you make landline calls, each digit is transmitted to your provider right after you enter it. This means that the provider initiates the call setup process as soon as the final digit is entered. Due to the differences between the dialing procedures, the time it takes to establish an internet call is considerably longer than when you make a call from the landline.
The dialing procedure is automatically shortened when you call known numbers and can be accelerated when you call unknown numbers:
- If you call numbers that are saved in the FRITZ!Box telephone book, the calls are always executed immediately.
- The FRITZ!Box saves all of the numbers you called successfully until it is restarted. Any time you call this number in the future, it is dialed immediately.
- You can reduce the time it takes to call an unknown number by pressing the # button after entering the complete number. This tells the FRITZ!Box that you have finished entering the number and it dials immediately.
