"Info" LED flashes

The "Info" LED on your FRITZ!Box flashes when various events occur:

  • FRITZ!OS is being updated
  • the wireless LAN security settings are being transmitted automatically to a FRITZ!WLAN Stick
  • a cordless telephone is being registered with the FRITZ!Box
  • a smart home device is registering with the FRITZ!Box.
  • an event you selected under "System > Buttons and LEDs"
  • there is a hardware or software

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Issue occurred after updating FRITZ!OS

Perform the following steps if the error occurred after an update:

2 Issue occurred after connecting a FRITZ!WLAN Stick

The following steps are only necessary if the issue occurred after connecting a FRITZ!WLAN Stick:

Preparations

  1. Remove the FRITZ!WLAN Stick from the FRITZ!Box USB port.
  2. Connect a computer to a LAN port on the FRITZ!Box.

Enabling Stick & Surf

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Security" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enable the option "Enable AVM Stick & Surf" in the "Additional Security Settings" section.
  4. Click "Apply" to save your settings.

Now you can connect your FRITZ!WLAN Stick to the FRITZ!Box. The wireless security settings are then transmitted to it. Afterwards you can connect the FRITZ!WLAN Stick to your computer using Stick & Surf.

3 Checking the FRITZ!Box settings

In the FRITZ!Box user interface you can configure the "Info" LED to flash whenever a certain event occurs. Check which event was selected and stop the flashing:

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Buttons and LEDs" in the "System" menu.
  3. Check which event was defined for the "Info" LED:
    • "Call during absence - LED flashes":
      • Press the call key (lift the receiver) on a telephone that is connected to the FRITZ!Box.

Note:Normally you only have to lift the receiver. If the telephone is connected to a PBX for which automatic outside dialing is not enabled, you must first dial the number needed to access an outside line (for example "0").

Important:You cannot use an IP telephone (for example FRITZ!App Fon) to reset the FRITZ!Box's "Info" LED!

    • "New answering machine message - LED flashes":
      • Listen to all new messages.
    • displays new faxes:
      • Your FRITZ!Box saves faxes in a folder named "FRITZ\faxbox" on the USB storage device connected to the FRITZ!Box. The "Info" LED flashes as long as there is at least one fax (PDF file) in this folder.
        • Delete all of the faxes in the "FRITZ\faxbox" folder or move them to a different folder, for example to a folder on your computer's hard drive.
      • Important:If you select "New answering machine message, call during absence or new fax - LED flashes", there are several events that cause the LED to flash. In order to stop the flashing, you may have to perform the measures described here for all of the events.
