Computer does not start automatically when accessed from the Internet

Although the option "Start this computer automatically as soon as it is accessed from the Internet" is enabled for your computer in the FRITZ!Box, it does not automatically start when it is accessed from the Internet.

Cause

  • The FRITZ!Box does not send the Magic Packet required to automatically start the computer ("Wake on LAN").

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the issue persists.

1 Installing the latest FRITZ!OS

2 Repeating access from the Internet at a later time

The FRITZ!Box does not send the Magic Packet required to automatically start the computer if the computer was in use within the last 15 minutes.

  • Access the computer from the Internet again at a later time, but not until the computer has been in standby for at least 15 minutes,
    • or, start the computer manually:
      1. Open the FRITZ!Box user interface.
      2. Click "Home Network" and then "Network" in the user interface.
      3. Click the button (Edit) for the computer that is to be started.
      4. Click the "Start Computer" button.
