Transferring telephone calls

Telephone calls can either be transferred to an external telephone number or to another telephone that is also connected to the FRITZ!Box.

Requirements / Restrictions

  • Transferring calls from an IP telephone such as FRITZ!App Fon to another telephone is not supported.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Preparations

The following steps are only necessary if the telephone or the PBX is connected to the "FON S0" port:

  1. Enable "automatic on-hook transfer" on all ISDN telephones connected to your FRITZ!Box; telephone calls are then transferred automatically when you hang up. Refer to the device's manufacturer for information on how to set it up, for example consult the manual; often it can be found under the heading "Explicit Call Transfer" (ECT).

2 Assigning internal telephone numbers to ISDN devices

Telephones connected to the "FON S0" port on the FRITZ!Box either directly or via an ISDN PBX cannot automatically be reached internally. Although the FRITZ!Box assigns an internal telephone number to the telephones during setup, this telephone number must still be assigned in the telephone or the PBX:

Configuring a telephone in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Configure all of the telephones connected to the "FON S0" port as ISDN telephones. To do so, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the instructions.

Important:The wizard's ring test does not work due to an error in the FRITZ!Box. When you are asked "Is the telephone ringing?", select "Yes" even if the telephone does not ring.

  4. If you connected an ISDN PBX to the FRITZ!Box, also configure all of the analog telephones connected to this PBX as ISDN telephones in the FRITZ!Box. To do so, click the "Configure New Device" button and follow the instructions.

Assigning internal telephone numbers in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the relevant ISDN telephone.
  4. Select the internal telephone number, for example 52, from the drop-down list "Number of the terminal device".
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.

Assigning internal telephone numbers in telephones

  1. Assign the internal telephone number to the ISDN telephone as the incoming telephone number. If the telephone is connected to a PBX, assign the telephone number to the extension of the PBX instead of to the telephone.

3 Transferring telephone calls

  1. While conducting a telephone call, press the R key on your telephone.

Note:If you are using a FRITZ!Fon model that does not have an R key, then the R key is not displayed until you conduct a call (soft key). The key directly below the corresponding symbol functions as the R key.

  2. Enter the external number or ** followed by the internal number, depending on where the call should be transferred to.

    Example:
To transfer the call to the "FON 1" port, enter **1.

Note:You can find the internal numbers of the telephony devices under "Telephone Book > Internal Numbers" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.

  3. If you want to transfer the call directly, enter *4 on the cordless telephone. With other types of telephones, simply hang up or enter R4.
    • If you want to confer with an internal partner first:
      1. Wait for the internal partner to accept the call.
      2. After conferring, you can transfer the call as described above or enter R1 to return to the initial call.
