FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE Service

FRITZ!Box reports "An unexpected error occurred in MyFRITZ!App" when setting up MyFRITZ!

The FRITZ!Box shows the following error message when you attempt to set up a MyFRITZ! account:

  • "An unexpected error occurred Please try again later"

Note:The configuration procedure and notes on functions given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for your FRITZ!Box.

1 Changing the passwords for FRITZ!Box users

For security reasons, the FRITZ!Box cannot register a MyFRITZ! account with the MyFRITZ! service if the password for the MyFRITZ! account is the same as the password for a FRITZ!Box user. Therefore, make sure that the passwords of all FRITZ!Box users differ from the password for the MyFRITZ! account:

  1. Click "System" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "FRITZ!Box Users" in the "System" menu.
  3. Click the button (Edit) for the user you would like to configure.
  4. Enter a new password for the user that is not the same as the password for your MyFRITZ! account.
  5. Click "OK" to save the settings.

2 Setting up an existing MyFRITZ! account in the FRITZ!Box

If the error occurs when setting up an existing MyFRITZ! account in the FRITZ!Box, set it up again in the FRITZ!Box as an existing account:

  1. Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "MyFRITZ! account" in the "Internet" menu.
  3. If the option "MyFRITZ! enabled for this FRITZ!Box" is displayed, click on the "Another MyFRITZ! account" link to the right of the e-mail address.
  4. Enable the option "Register the FRITZ!Box with an existing MyFRITZ! account".
  5. In the corresponding fields, enter the e-mail address and MyFRITZ! password you used to register with MyFRITZ!. This is the login information for your MyFRITZ! account required to log in on the myfritz.net website.
  6. Click "Continue".
  7. If you are asked to set up a FRITZ!Box user, enter a name and password for the FRITZ!Box user in the corresponding fields and click "Next".

    Important:For security reasons, the passwords for the FRITZ!Box user and your MyFRITZ! account must be different.

Now the FRITZ!Box registers the MyFRITZ! account with the MyFRITZ! service. If the error occurs again when registering it, then the FRITZ!Box cannot reach the MyFRITZ! registration server due to server maintenance, for example. In this case, repeat the setup later, for example in an hour or the following day.

3 Setting up a new MyFRITZ! account in the FRITZ!Box

If the error occurred while setting up a new MyFRITZ! account, then registration of the account could not be completed and the account could not be activated. In this case, set up a new MyFRITZ! account in the FRITZ!Box:

Now the FRITZ!Box registers the MyFRITZ! account with the MyFRITZ! service. If the error occurs again when registering it, then the FRITZ!Box cannot reach the MyFRITZ! registration server due to server maintenance, for example. In this case, repeat the setup later, for example in an hour or the following day.
