Integrating a FRITZ!Box into the home network via powerline
You can connect a FRITZ!Box to an existing FRITZ!Box over your home's electrical wiring, for example with FRITZ!Powerline, and configure it so that it uses the first FRITZ!Box's internet connection (operation as a Mesh Repeater / an IP client).
Internet and telephony services configured in the FRITZ!Box with internet access are then available to the FRITZ!Box in the home network and the devices connected to that FRITZ!Box, such as computers and telephones.
Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.
1 Setting up the FRITZ!Box as a Mesh Repeater / IP client
Connecting the FRITZ!Box
- Use Wi-Fi or a network cable to connect a computer to the FRITZ!Box you want to use in the home network.
- If the computer is already connected to the FRITZ!Box that establishes the internet connection, clear that connection.
Configuring the FRITZ!Box
- Click "Home Network" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click on "Mesh" in the "Home Network" menu.
- Click on the "Mesh Settings" tab.
- Enable the option "FRITZ!Box as a Mesh Repeater".

- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
The FRITZ!Box is now configured for for operation in the home network.
Important:In this operating mode, the FRITZ!Box can no longer be reached at http://fritz.box. Instead, to access it you must use the Mesh or home network overview of the FRITZ!Box with internet access or the IP address assigned to it by the FRITZ!Box with internet access.
2 Connecting FRITZ!Box with the home network
Here we show you how to connect two FRITZ!Boxes with each other over your home's electrical wiring using FRITZ!Powerline as an example. Information on how to set up other powerline adapters can be obtained from the manufacturer, for example refer to the manual.
Connecting FRITZ!Powerline adapters with each other
FRITZ!Powerline adapters from a set are already connected with each other and do not require any additional settings before being used. If you bought the FRITZ!Powerline adapters individually, you must connect the powerline adapters with each other first:
- Insert the new FRITZ!Powerline adapter that you want to add to the powerline network into a power outlet near a FRITZ!Powerline adapter that is already part of the powerline network.
- Wait until the FRITZ!Powerline adapter is ready for operation and the "Power" LED or "WLAN" LED remains lit.
- Briefly push the connection button on both of the FRITZ!Powerline adapters. It does not matter which of the connection buttons you push first. The "Powerline" LED flashes when you let go. Depending on the FRITZ!Powerline model, various other LEDs flash simultaneously.

- Plug the second FRITZ!Powerline adapter into a power outlet near the FRITZ!Box in the home network.
- Use a network cable to connect the second FRITZ!Powerline adapter to a LAN port on the FRITZ!Box in the home network.
- As soon as the "Powerline" LEDs on the FRITZ!Powerline adapters remain lit, the FRITZ!Powerline adapters are connected and the network connection is established.
