FRITZ!Box 6590 Cable Service

FRITZ!Fon reports "Correct password?"

When you attempt to retrieve emails with your FRITZ!Fon, the telephone displays the message "Correct password?" and you do not receive your email.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem persists.

1 Adjusting your Google account settings

With Google, in some cases this message is displayed even though you entered the correct account information:

Note:For further information, refer to the Google Accounts Help Center and search for "Password incorrect".

  1. If you enabled the 2-step verification method for your Google account, generate anapp password for the FRITZ!Box and use it when setting up the email account.

2 Correcting email account information in the FRITZ!Box

  1. Click "DECT" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Web Services" or "Internet Services" in the "DECT" menu.
  3. Click the (Edit) button for the respective email account.
  4. Enter your complete email address in the "Email address" field.
  5. Enter the password for your email account.
  6. If the FRITZ!Box does not automatically fill in the information, also enter the name of your provider's POP3 server.

    For 1&1 enter "" for the POP3 server.

  7. Enable the option "This server supports a secure connection (SSL)" if necessary.
  8. Click "OK" to save the settings.

3 Contacting your provider

If you still cannot retrieve emails, then your account information is not entered correctly, or or there is a problem with your provider:
