FRITZ!Box 6490 Cable Service - Knowledge Base
Certain settings are missing from the FRITZ!Box user interface
You would like to use or configure a specific function, such as DynDNS, in the user interface. However, the corresponding settings (such as menu items, buttons) are not displayed although these settings are present in the user interface of a different FRITZ!Box of the same type.
Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check whether the problem persists.
1 Enabling the advanced view
- Enable the advanced view in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
2 Internet service provider prevents update
If the "Update" menu is not available, then your FRITZ!Box was provided by your cable provider. The cable provider automatically installs new FRITZ!OS for these devices. It is therefore not possible or necessary to install an update using the FRITZ!Box user interface. Refer to your provider for information on the new FRITZ!OS version and possible dates.
3 Function cannot be used with certain editions of FRITZ!Box
The FRITZ!Box is available in special editions for various cable providers. The functions offered by these editions can differ. As a result, the corresponding settings (such as menu items, buttons) are not available, although they are offered by a different FRITZ!Box of the same type.
