Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID) of the FRITZ!Box

In the factory settings, the FRITZ!Box has a preset Wi-Fi network name (SSID). If you want to use a unique name for your Wi-Fi network, you can easily change the Wi-Fi network name.

Note:All instructions on configuration and settings given in this guide refer to the latest FRITZ!OS for the FRITZ!Box.

1 Changing the name of the Wi-Fi network (SSID)

  1. Click "Wireless" ("WLAN") in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Radio Network" in the "Wireless" ("WLAN") menu.
  3. Enter the same unique name in the fields "Name of the wireless radio network (SSID)" for the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz frequency band. If only one field is displayed, enable the Advanced View.
  4. Click "Apply" to save the settings. All Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box are cleared when the new Wi-Fi network name is adopted. You must then reconfigure the Wi-Fi connections to the FRITZ!Box.
