No status information available for a USB printer configured as a network printer
Computers in the home network cannot retrieve status information for a USB printer connected to the FRITZ!Box, such as ink or paper level, if the printer is configured as a network printer.
Status information not available for network printers
Bidirectional communication between the USB printer and the computer is required for the transmission of status information. The FRITZ!Box's printer server does not support bidirectional connections. Therefore, the status information for a USB printer is not available when it is used as a network printer. This is not an error on the part of the FRITZ!Box.
Note:You can access status information if you use the FRITZ!Box USB remote connection software to connect the USB printer to a computer. However, in this case only one device can access the printer at a time.
