MyFRITZ!App 2 cannot connect to the FRITZ!Box
MyFRITZ!App 2 displays one of the following error messages when you start MyFRITZ!App 2 or attempt to access the FRITZ!Box when you are away from home, establish a home network connection (VPN), switch smart home devices, the answering machine, or call diversions:
- "No connection to the FRITZ!Box active"
- "Use from on the go not possible. Not connected via IPv6."
1 Public IP address required for access
You can only use MyFRITZ!App to access the FRITZ!Box from the internet if your internet service provider assigns the FRITZ!Box a public IPV4 address or an IPv6 when it establishes an internet connection.
Important:When used on a DS-Lite internet connection, the FRITZ!Box is only accessible from the internet over IPv6. When DS-Lite is active, the status "IPv4 over DS Lite" is displayed under "Connections" on the "Overview" page of the FRITZ!Box user interface.
You cannot access the FRITZ!Box if the FRITZ!Box obtains a private IPv4 address.
If the FRITZ!Box obtains an IPv6 address in addition to the private IPv4 address, then the FRITZ!Box can be reached at this IPv6 address. However, access over the IPv6 address is only possible if the smartphone or tablet itself is also connected to the internet via IPv6 and obtains an IPv6 address.
Since not all internet connections support IPv6 connectivity (for example in many mobile communication networks and wireless hotspots), call up www.test-ipv6.com or www.ipv6-test.com. You can only access the FRITZ!Box with MyFRITZ!App if IPv6 connectivity is available.
2 "Home network connection" can only be used with public IPv4 addresses
You can use MyFRITZ! app's "home network connection" function in the "Home Network" menu to establish a secure VPN connection (Virtual Private Network) to the FRITZ!Box over the internet. This function can only be used if the FRITZ!Box obtains a public IPv4 address from the internet service provider.
When the FRITZ!Box is used on a DS-Lite internet connection, obtains a private IPv4 address, or only obtains an IPv6 address, you cannot establish VPN connections to the FRITZ!Box. The "home network connection" function cannot be used.
3 Maintaining a permanent internet connection
- Click "Internet" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
- Click "Account Information" in the "Internet" menu.
- Click "Change connection settings".
- Enable the option "Maintain permanently (recommended for flat rates)". If the option is not shown, then the FRITZ!Box is already permanently connected to the internet.
- Click "Apply" to save the settings.
