Playing back a TV program with FRITZ!App TV

With FRITZ!App TV, smartphones and tablets in the home network can play the IP stream made available by the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater DVB-C or FRITZ!Box Cable models. FRITZ!App TV automatically loads the channel list and offers additional convenience functions. These include displaying station logos, an electronic program guide (EPG), and creating your own favorites list

Requirements / Restrictions

  • iOS 7.0 or later or Android 4.4 or later is installed on the smartphone or tablet.
  • You cannot use FRITZ!App TV to play HD channels.

1 Configuring the repeater for television reception

First configure the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater or FRITZ!Box for television reception:

Important:The FRITZ!WLAN Repeater must be connected to the cable junction for the channel search to work.

  1. Click "DVB-C" in the user interface of the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater.
  2. Click "Channel Search" in the "DVB-C" menu.
  3. Click the "Start Channel Search" button.

  1. Click "DVB-C" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Channel Search" in the "DVB-C" menu.
  3. Click the "Start Channel Search" button.

2 Installing FRITZ!App TV

  1. Download FRITZ!App TV from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and install the app on your smartphone or tablet.

3 Operating FRITZ!App TV

  1. Tap a station name or its logo to play it.
  2. If you want to change the station, swipe left or right on the screen, or tap the button on the left-hand or right-hand corner of the screen.
  3. If you want to end playback and return to the channel list, tap the playback window and then tap the "To Overview" button in iOS or "Back" in Android.
  4. Tap the screen twice to enlarge or reduce the size of the TV picture.
  5. To display program information, tap the playback window first and then tap the arrow icon next to the name of the program at the bottom of the screen.
