AVM at IFA 2019 – Smart Home

IFA 2019: Energy, heating, lighting and the new FRITZ!App Smart Home – AVM innovations for more convenience at home

At IFA 2019 AVM is introducing three innovations for the Smart Home segment, an intelligent LED bulb, a smart switch with four button shortcuts and e-paper display, alongside the new FRITZ!App for Smart Home. With the FRITZ!DECT 500 smart LED bulb, AVM is expanding the portfolio to include lighting management. The FRITZ!DECT 500, which offers white and color light for any situation, can be operated via the new FRITZ!App Smart Home, the new FRITZ!DECT 440 smart switch, the FRITZ!Fon or via a browser. AVM now offers the most frequently demanded products for a Smart Home, i.e., intelligent and consumption-recording smart plugs, a radiator control and a smart bulb. The trio of energy, heating and lighting completely covers the core functions for living spaces. Another highlight is the new FRITZ!DECT 440 smart switch. In an elegant white housing equipped with an e-paper display, the FRITZ!DECT 440 offers switching functions for FRITZ!DECT products and serves as an external temperature sensor. The smart switch can be used anywhere for extensive remote control of a FRITZ! Smart Home. At this year’s IFA, AVM is also announcing new functions for the FRITZ!DECT 301 radiator control. All new products will be exhibited at both AVM booths in Hall 17 and in the IFA Summer Garden (A10).

Please also refer to the main IFA press release and three other press releases on 5G, Wi-Fi 6, and the new FRITZ!Repeater generation and FRITZ!OS 7.12.

New: lighting management with the FRITZ!DECT 500

Alongside the new FRITZ!DECT 500 LED bulb, the FRITZ!Box turns into an intelligent lighting system. The FRITZ!DECT 500 is an LED bulb with smart lighting control for white and color light. Over Smart Home DECT ULE technology, it can easily be integrated in the FRITZ! home network at the touch of a button. The new bulb provides light for any situation, thanks to its infinitely adjustable dimmer. FRITZ!DECT 500 can be managed in many different ways, including via the two switches FRITZ!DECT 440 and 400, the FRITZ!Fon or the new FRITZ!App Smart Home, which AVM will introduce at IFA. With the addition of FRITZ!DECT 500, AVM offers the trio of energy, heating and lighting so users can select the smart scenarios they need. The new LED bulb is suitable for use with bulbs with the widely used E27 screw base.

Smart Home remote control: The FRITZ!DECT 440 four-way smart switch

Another Smart Home highlight is the new FRITZ!DECT 440 smart switch with an e-paper display. It can turn on and off several smart outlets individually or in groups and activate templates. The FRITZ!DECT 440 can be connected via DECT ULE technology to any FRITZ!Box with a DECT base station. With the FRITZ!DECT 440 several FRITZ! Smart Home products assigned to a room can be quickly and conveniently switched on and managed. Those products include the FRITZ!DECT 200 and FRITZ!DECT 210 smart plugs, the FRITZ!DECT 301 radiator control and the new FRITZ!DECT 500 LED bulb. With the integrated temperature sensor, the FRITZ!DECT 440 also serves as an external temperature sender for the radiator control from FRITZ!. Equipped with four configurable button shortcuts to operate FRITZ! products, the FRITZ!DECT 440 is the ideal remote control for the Smart Home network. Selected Smart Home devices can be set up over the FRITZ!Box user interface and assigned to one of the buttons. The ergonomically shaped smart switch ensures convenient and intuitive operation.

Keep an eye on everything with the new FRITZ!App Smart Home

Whether at home or on the go, with the new free FRITZ!App, users always have their  FRITZ! Smart Home with them. The new FRITZ!App for Android and iOS is the perfect management tool for the FRITZ! Smart Home network. All Smart Home products are presented clearly in a modern design. They can be called up quickly and switched on and off easily. Important information such as desired radiator temperature and measured temperatures can be seen immediately. In the overview, products can be rearranged via drag-and-drop to suit the user or hidden from view. When the user selects a product, another innovation is displayed FRITZ!App Smart Home: In a central overview the management of a product and information such as switch status, measured temperature or energy use graphs are displayed clearly. The desired temperature for radiators can be raised, lowered or set to a previously preconfigured level with a simple touch of a button. The FRITZ!App Smart Home will be released in the first quarter of 2020.

New functions for the FRITZ!DECT 301 radiator control.

The FRITZ!DECT 301, test winner in a current Stiftung Warentest comparison of radiator controls, will get two new functions for the 2019-2020 winter season. The first will make the FRITZ! DECT 301 even smarter by offering a way to turn on the heat so that the desired temperature is reached at a specified time. With the other new function, the boost and window-open mode can be managed per room for a group set up in the FRITZ!Box!. Both features will be made available in an automatic update in the winter.

Smart Home with FRITZ!

Smart Home, when the technology behind it is done right, makes life easier. Studies show that users want products that are easy to use, modular and secure. They should also increase convenience and help reduce the costs of electricity bills. The FRITZ! products from AVM are designed with precisely these needs in mind. A range of different smart scenarios can be implemented via DECT ULE, wireless LAN, Powerline and LAN connection paths. With FRITZ!Box so widespread in Germany, it's easy for many users to start making their house a Smart Home. The centerpiece of the smart FRITZ! home network is formed by FRITZ!Box models with an integrated DECT base station. There's no need to purchase an additional Smart Home central unit. Using the DECT ULE wireless standard, the FRITZ!Box communicates with the devices in the home network, thus enabling all products to interact with each other in a smart way. DECT ULE has its own frequency band and broad range. AVM offers so much for the Smart Home network with its FRITZ!DECT 200 and 210 smart plugs, the FRITZ!DECT 301 smart radiator control, the FRITZ!DECT 440 and 400 smart switches, the FRITZ!DECT 500 smart bulb, FRITZ!Apps and FRITZ!Fon models.
