AVM’s warm weather tips for the FRITZ! home network

Summer with FRITZ!

Lean back and relax this summer with FRITZ!Box: users can give guests quick WiFi access with FRITZ! Hotspot, soccer fans will never miss a match with the FRITZ!App TV and the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater DVB-C, while users can control temperatures at home with the smart plugs from FRITZ!. More tips can be found at

WiFi access for barbecue guests

Setting up a FRITZ! Hotspot for barbecue or summer party guests is straightforward: just activate it under "Wireless" in the FRITZ!Box user interface. The upcoming FRITZ!OS 7 makes it easier for users to choose their FRITZ! Hotspot settings: they can decide if they want to give their guests an open or a password-protected private wireless guest access. Whether it's private or public WiFi, the second wireless network made available by the FRITZ!Box means guests can surf the internet without accessing the user’s own home network. Watch TV outdoors

The FRITZ!App TV, together with the FRITZ!WLAN Repeater DVB-C, brings TV to every smartphone and tablet. Once you've installed the app, your phone or tablet will be able to automatically detect the signals emitted by the DVB-C repeater, which transmits TV channels using high-speed wireless LAN. It's ideal for watching the latest World Cup matches on a patio or a porch. It also works with the VLC media player for those who prefer to watch on their laptop or PC. Smart air conditioning

During the warm summer days the FRITZ!DECT 200 or 210 smart plugs take care of the home and help keep it cool. Users need two FRITZ!DECT devices that can be set up as a group in the FRITZ!Box user interface. In the FRITZ!Box's Smart Home area click the "New Group" button and enable the "Temperature" option. If the temperature in the room exceeds the temperature defined in the FRITZ!Box user interface, the FRITZ!DECT smart plug will automatically turn the air conditioning or fan on, ensuring a comfortable and efficiently cooled home.
