New FRITZ!Box models for gigabit connections: Mesh WiFi for better performance at home

At the Mobile World Congress the Berlin-based communications specialist AVM is showing its latest FRITZ!Box models for broadband connections with gigabit speed and demonstrating the new Mesh WiFi live. As a trade fair premiere, AVM is presenting the FRITZ!Box 7583 for G.fast with 212 MHz and VDSL including 35b supervectoring.

The new model also supports bonding so that the speeds enabled by various DSL extension levels can be combined to offer double the transmission rates. The FRITZ!Box 6591 Cable with DOCSIS 3.1 is at the ready when cable providers expand their gigabit networks, and for fiber optic connections AVM offers two devices for passive and active fiber optic technology, the FRITZ!Box 5491 and 5490. The FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE for fast internet via mobile networks and DSL features updated performance, which allows it to be operated concurrently on the DSL line and via LTE. With these four new FRITZ!Box models AVM is optimally prepared for the next phases of gigabit expansion in DSL, cable and fiber optic networks.. With the next FRITZ!OS the FRITZ!Box will become a versatile Mesh WiFi router. By combining it with a FRITZ!WLAN Repeater and powerline products with WiFi capability, it is easy for every user to set up a Mesh system to meet their needs. This way they can benefit from the highest wireless LAN speeds for surfing, streaming or gaming – for many devices, seamlessly even into the furthest corners of the home, apartment or office. AVM is presenting all FRITZ! highlights at the MWC at stand 6H40 in hall 6.

FRITZ!Box for gigabit speed on the broadband connection

The new FRITZ!Box 7583 is an all-round talent on the G.fast and VDSL connections. It supports G.fast with 212 MHz and VDSL including 35b supervectoring. Thanks to bonding, it can also combine the speeds offered by these DSL technologies. Depending on the provider, the new FRITZ!Box 7583 can be implemented in a variety of ways. In single-line operation it achieves download rates of up to 1.5 Gbit with G.fast and 300 Mbit/s with 35b supervectoring. Through bonding data rates of up to 3 Gbit/s or 600 Mbit/s can be achieved.

The new FRITZ!Box 6591 Cable is at the ready when cable providers expand their gigabit networks. With 2 x 2 DOCSIS 3.1 channel bonding, it achieves top speeds of up to 6 Gbit/s downstream and 2 Gbit/s upstream. The new FRITZ!Box Cable offers providers additional flexibility, since variable upstream frequency ranges can be configured. The FRITZ!Box 6591 Cable is also backward compatible to DOCSIS 3.0.

For deployment directly at the fiber optic outlet, AVM offers two powerful terminal devices, the FRITZ!Box 5491 and 5490. Because the new FRITZ!Box 5491 supports GPON, and the FRITZ!Box 5490 the active point-to-point technology (AON), the FRITZ!Box can be deployed directly on all common fiber optic connections. (GPON = Gigabit Passive Optical Network; AON = Active Optical Network)

The FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE offers fast internet via the mobile network or DSL with data rates of up to 300 Mbit/s. At the MWC AVM is showing a future FRITZ!OS version, which will allow the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE to be deployed via a mobile network and on the DSL connection at the same time. With the appropriate mobile network and DSL tariff plans, this means gross data rates of up to 600 Mbit/s are possible under ideal conditions.

In addition to fast internet access, all of the FRITZ!Box models shown at the MWC are also equipped with a great many possibilities for home networking. Fast dual-band wireless LAN, gigabit WAN and LAN ports pass the fast tempo from the connection on to the home network. An integrated telephone system, a DECT base station for telephony and Smart Home applications provide for communication over many channels. The FRITZ!OS operating system keeps all products up to date with the latest, secure software.

The easiest way to expand your wireless LAN: with Mesh WiFi from FRITZ!

At the trade fair stand in Barcelona AVM is demonstrating the new Mesh WiFi live. With the latest FRITZ!OS, FRITZ!Box, FRITZ!WLAN Repeater and FRITZ!Powerline products work with wireless LAN as an intelligent Mesh network. This way users can enjoy a fast, stable wireless network with high data rates for all devices everywhere in the home. The communication among all FRITZ! products (FRITZ!Box, wireless repeaters, powerline adapters) is improved, so that settings can be synchronized and the performance of connected terminal devices optimized. And all of this runs smoothly and automatically. Through the new home network overview with an innovative Mesh connection diagram, users see immediately which FRITZ! product is connected to smartphone, notebook and the like, along with the quality of their connections. New innovative technologies like band steering, beamforming, crossband repeating and self healing implemented in the FRITZ! products always provide for optimum wireless performance. Mesh WiFi will become available starting with the next version of FRITZ!OS. The upcoming FRITZ!OS release in the second quarter of 2018 will roll out additional functions for the Mesh system as well as for telephony and Smart Home.
