New FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE for fast Internet via LTE and the best wireless LAN

At IFA AVM is debuting the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE for fast Internet with up to 300 Mbit/s via mobile network or DSL. The new model transmits on five LTE and two UMTS frequencies and supports roaming for surfing in all mobile communication networks. Like the new FRITZ!Box models 7590 and 6590 Cable, the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE is very well-equipped for home networking: fast wireless LAN on both frequencies and with the new Multi-User MIMO technology (4x4 dual band Wireless AC+N with 1,733 Mbit/s on 5 GHz and 800 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz), four gigabit LAN ports, one USB port for storage media and one DECT base station for phones and Smart Home applications. Existing telecom systems can be connected over the internal ISDN S₀ bus. Analog telephones, fax machines or intercom systems can also be connected to the new FRITZ!Box. The FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE can be used either via mobile communications or on the landline. It can be connected to the DSL line directly or via the WAN port on a cable or fiber optic modem. Thanks to the fallback function from DSL to mobile communications featured by the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE, users with especially high demands on Internet availability benefit from additional security. Download rates of up to 300 Mbit/s can be achieved via both LTE (CAT6) and DSL (from ADSL to VDSL2 with 35b supervectoring). IP-based (SIP standard) telephony is supported for all connection types. On top of this, the FRITZ!Box 6890 LTE can also be used on ISDN and analog landline connections.

FRITZ!DECT 301 – new version of the smart radiator control

With FRITZ!DECT 301 AVM is presenting a new version of the smart radiator control at IFA. The design was optimized and the new Smart Home product offers an innovative e-paper display. The high contrast provides for very good readability even with little background light. As the e-paper display only requires power for display changes, the FRITZ!DECT 301 is especially energy-efficient. In combination with a FRITZ!Box the FRITZ!DECT 301 manages the room temperature automatically and precisely. It is securely integrated into the home network via DECT ULE (Ultra Low Energy) and is easy to operate using a PC, smartphone, tablet or FRITZ!Fon. The secure radio standard DECT ULE is established in the Smart Home sector because it covers great ranges and uses its own frequency range, which enables other radio technologies like WiFi or Bluetooth to be utilized concurrently. Thanks to the free MyFRITZ! service, it is even possible to manage the new FRITZ!DECT 301 from outside the home using the app or browser. Individual schedules, vacations, open window detection, key lock and limescale protection are just some of its convenience features. Heating costs can be saved through the exact switching of the heating program according to a schedule. The radiator control is easy to mount on all common radiator valves, and the clearly legible instructions over the menu make the installation child's play. Thanks to the DECT ULE single chip design and the doubled flash storage, the FRITZ!DECT 301 works with high efficiency and low energy consumption. Plus, the FRITZ!DECT 301 regularly receives new functions through updates to keep it up to date and secure.

New FRITZ!OS 6.90 for even more wireless mesh performance, Smart Home and stability

The new FRITZ!OS 6.90 for FRITZ!Box, FRITZ!WLAN Repeaters and FRITZ!Powerline offer even more wireless mesh performance. On top of this, the new release improves FRITZ! products in terms of convenience, security and stability. Mesh networking is a new trend in the home network and has been a feature of FRITZ! for a long time. A mesh network like the FRITZ! home network ensures that fast, stable WiFi with high data rates is available to all devices in the entire home. The FRITZ!Box is the hub. It provides the Internet access (layer 1), serves as a powerful wireless LAN access point, and can build a mesh network. This makes it especially easy for users to expand their wireless coverage modularly as needed with other FRITZ! products. This mesh networking convenience has been expanded by AVM with FRITZ!OS 6.90. The communication among all FRITZ! products (wireless repeaters, powerline adapters) is improved, so that settings can be synchronized and the performance of connected terminal devices optimized. And all this runs smoothly, without the user having to do anything.

One of the new features that come with FRITZ!OS 6.90 is the new home network overview with an innovative mesh connection diagram for more transparency and convenience. It shows which FRITZ! product is connected to smartphone, notebook and the like, along with the quality of their connections. Band steering for FRITZ!WLAN Repeaters and WiFi-capable FRITZ!Powerline devices is also new. Due to this, wireless devices supporting dual band are able to find the optimum transmission band in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network for any smartphone, tablet or other device. The extension of the automatic wireless LAN channel selection and the "self healing function" during a connection loss further provide for reliable WiFi with great coverage. To improve interoperability with products from other manufacturers, the wireless LAN configuration of FRITZ!WLAN Repeaters via WPS push button has been revised. The new update also optimizes the combination of the FRITZ!Box and DECT telephones by Gigaset and Deutsche Telekom. FRITZ!OS 6.90 includes improvements to VoIP voice quality and reaction times for data applications. FRITZ!Box users benefit from FRITZ!OS 6.90 thanks to its effective advancement of FRITZ! product development. As always, users should only use the latest version of FRITZ!OS for top security and optimum network synchronization. FRITZ!OS 6.90 will be released step by step for the following FRITZ! products in Germany starting in September 2017: FRITZ!Box 7590, 7580, 7560 and 7490; FRITZ!WLAN Repeater 1750E, 1160, 310 and 450E; FRITZ!Powerline 1260E, 1240E, 540E and 546E.

For seamless connections and great range: FRITZ!Powerline 1260E and FRITZ!App WLAN

The new Mesh WiFi features of FRITZ!OS 6.90 are already included in the new FRITZ!Powerline 1260E. This powerhouse combines gigabit powerline and fast wireless LAN in one device. It supports the WiFi frequencies 2.4 and 5 GHz and offers an additional channel over the electrical wiring via powerline. At IFA AVM will be presenting a new version of the FRITZ!App WLAN for Android. With the new function "Measure WiFi throughput" users can easily measure the connection speed of smartphone or tablet at different locations within the radio network. Data throughput and signal strength are displayed in real time and the results can be shared or sent for further analysis. Plus, the app records network switches and connection losses. If the user owns a FRITZ!WLAN Repeater or a FRITZ!Powerline device supporting WiFi, the roaming activities between these devices are displayed. The app also detects whether a mesh system is set up in the FRITZ! home network on the basis of the FRITZ!Box model and FRITZ!OS version. If there are multiple wireless networks (SSIDs) within the home network, the app indicates which router or repeater (access point) provides which wireless network.

New in retail: new FRITZ!Box top models for DSL and cable

In June 2017 the FRITZ!Box 7590 for DSL and the FRITZ!Box 6590 Cable for cable connections were successfully introduced in Germany.
