Since July 2016, 1&1 has been offering real gigabit Internet in over 250 cities with its 1&1 Fiber Optic Business 1000 package. It guarantees download speeds of 1000 Mbit/s and enables an upload rate of 200 Mbit/s. Companies that can make due with less bandwidth can choose the package 1&1 Fiber Optic Business 500. Here the download speed reaches 500 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s for uploads. Unlike DSL, the bandwidths of fiber optic connections can be guaranteed independent of the line quality. The product is technically realized by 1&1 Versatel, the infrastructure provider of the 1&1 Group.
The FRITZ!Box 5490 for fiber optics enables direct access to the fiber optic connection. It offers Wireless AC with 1300 Mbit/s and Wireless N with 450 Mbit/s for the home network at gigabit speeds. For convenient telephony in HD, the FRITZ!Box 5490 incorporates a telephone system with answering machines, an integrated DECT base station for up to six cordless telephones, and connection options for analog, ISDN and IP telephones. The powerful media server streams music, images, and videos throughout the entire internal network. Smart Home functions based on DECT round out the full range of features.
