A „winning combination“ of functions and features has helped the FRITZ!Box 3490 to take home PC Advisor’s prestigious “Best Buy” award. The computer magazine has run a comprehensive group test (issue 244), comparing the build, features, performance and value of seven routers supporting Wireless AC. The verdict: "The AVM FRITZ!Box 3490 is our favourite router in this line-up”.
The magazine points out that AVM was one of the first companies to treat its software as an integral part of the product rather than an afterthought, and that the FRITZ!OS software is impressive compared with much of the competition. According to PC Advisor, “the overall software design is excellent. The router setup process is straightforward and logical, and there are some nifty extra features.”
One thing that impressed the reviewer is that the FRITZ!Box 3490 “delivers blisteringly quick wireless speeds”. PC Advisor also acknowledges that considerable effort has been put into reducing the power consumption of the FRITZ!Box 3490. The “generally low overall power consumption we measured [4.8W] is under half the amount used by the other routers we’ve tested in this group test, and a potentially important consideration for a device that most people will leave running all the time.”
PC Advisor conclusion: “Great performance, great software, a good range of features and plenty of room for expansion with external storage. A winning combination.”
