Tips for additional security

Here are important instructions regarding the security of your FRITZ!Box. Read here how to perform a simple update to the latest FRITZ!OS so that you are always up to date, not only in terms of security. This article also explains why it is important to perform updates regularly.

Note: Passwords for third-party Internet services (for example e-mail) also have to be changed with the corresponding provider.

 

Change your passwords regularly

Delete unfamiliar IP telephones

Delete all unknown IP telephones to make sure that they cannot be used to make unauthorized calls and in order to assign new passwords. If necessary, set up the configured IP telephones again:

  1. Click "Telephony" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "Telephony Devices" in the "Telephony" menu.
  3. You can recognize IP telephones because they are designated as "LAN/WLAN". Click the corresponding "Delete" button to delete all registered IP telephones.
  4. IP telephones already configured can be assigned a new password IP telephones that were set up using FRITZ!App Fon can be set up again using the app.
