Surfing the Web safely

Information and entertainment over the Internet have become an integral part of everyday life. But even just surfing on a manipulated website or downloading apparently harmless content can have serious consequences for your computer: Viruses, worms and Trojans can settle in and collect the passwords for your various accounts.

Protection through virus scanners and browser updates

You can protect yourself from many of these dangers by implementing just a few measures: For instance, secure your computer with a firewall and install a virus scanner. Keep both the virus scanner and your browser up to date with regular updates.

Beware of unfamiliar sources

Be careful about opening e-mail attachments and downloads from websites and make sure that the source is trustworthy. There are some deceptively authentic looking sites in circulation attempting to elict your personal login data. Also be sure to secure your data regularly to cut your losses if you should suffer from a virus attack.

FRITZ!Box with effective firewall

Another protective measure is the firewall integrated in the FRITZ!Box. It is certified by the German authority TÜV and provides your computer with reliable protection against attacks from the Internet. This allows you to prevent any remote control of your computer by Trojans and infection by fast propagating worms.
