Everything about VPN

VPN with AVM – practical and secure

A VPN is a "Virtual Private Network". A network of this kind can be used, for instance, by employees working at different locations to access the corporate network without actually being on the premises. Private users can also benefit from a configured VPN to access their home networks securely from other locations.

Using the tunnel

Establishing a connection to your own home network via VPN can be compared with a tunnel. The metaphor is also appropriate in terms of security: The VPN tunnel has a starting point and an endpoint, and the space in between – the actual connection – is safely shielded from the outside world. Powerful encryption techniques are deployed to provide maximum security against unauthorized access.

Additional security mechanisms for your VPN

For smooth functioning AVM deploys the VPN standard IPSec. This protocol provides for protection, security, integrity and authenticity during the configuration of a tunnel. More precisely, AES (the "Advanced Encryption Standard") is used, which caters to the highest security demands, preventing not only unauthorized penetration of the local network, but also decryption of the data transmitted.

Also with a firewall

Of course, in a VPN connection not only the tunnel and the transmitted data are secured: IP stack provides additional protection. This technology was developed in-house by AVM and works like a firewall against the Internet. Do not hesitate to enjoy quick access to your home network from afar – with a secure VPN connection by AVM.
